He lives in Bend with MaryLea and their two daughters.

Mike O’Neil
Founder
Mike founded Solaire Homebuilders in 1995 with his wife, Cindi, to give home buyers the option to build energy-efficient passive and active solar homes. As Central Oregon’s leader in green building, Mike was an early adopter of the Super Good Cents program, a precursor to today’s green building standards. He balances the future of high-performance building with the fundamental principles of good-quality homebuilding. Thoughtful and fair, Mike strives to build beautiful custom homes on time and within budget. Mike holds several certifications in green building including Earth Advantage Sustainable Homes Professional and National Association of Homebuilders Certified Green Professional. He gives back to his industry through leadership roles at the local and state level. Mike contributes locally and internationally as an active member of the Rotary International Greater Bend Club. When he’s not enjoying his Solaire net-zero energy home, you can find Mike in the outdoors hunting, fishing, and backpacking in the Bob Marshall Wilderness.

MaryLea Harris
Owner | Vice President
MaryLea is a professional artist, real estate investor and social media/brand manager. She has been renovating and designing homes alongside her husband, Geoff, throughout their 27 years together. Her eye for design and passion for creating a healthy home environment has enabled her to renovate and manage successful investment properties and vacation rentals throughout Oregon. She loves working alongside Geoff and is looking forward to building upon Solaire’s legacy. As a mother of two daughters and graduate of an all-women’s college, MaryLea believes in paying it forward to other young women in her community. She created the MaryLea Harris Scholarship for Women in the Arts, an annually awarded scholarship for a local high school student planning to study art, arts management, design or arts education in college. In her free time, MaryLea enjoys gardening, showing her artwork around Central Oregon and fostering kittens for the Humane Society of Central Oregon.

Kendra Schmidt
Operations Manager
As Operations Manager, Kendra leads and supports nearly all aspects of the company. She is Solaire’s main point of contact between our customers and trade partners. Kendra keeps the Solaire team running smoothly; from leading our back-office operations to field project management, her calm presence, expertise and friendly smile put all who meet her at ease. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, baking and finding new adventures in Central Oregon.

Cindi O’Neil
Founder
In 1995, Cindi and her husband Mike founded Solaire Homebuilders. She performed research and led focus groups through a visioning process that later became the long-term strategy for Solaire Homebuilders. From 2006 to her retirement in 2020, Cindi worked directly with the Solaire team to lead sales and marketing for the company. Her primary role was evolving the company’s focus toward net-zero energy homes. Leading clients from their personal goals for a new house to a finished custom, healthy, energy efficient, sustainable home was the most rewarding aspect of her role with Solaire.
Today, Cindi inspires volunteers across Central Oregon, Coastal Oregon, and Northern California Rotary Clubs to serve those in need in their local communities and around the world. Rotary International added a new area of focus: “Supporting the Environment,” which is a fortunate coincidence for Cindi. She will be helping Rotary understand the significance and possible actions that will make supporting the environment a reality in local communities.
